Every Morgan silver dollar collector should own some highly graded “gem” or “near gem” coins from this great series. Morgans of this extraordinarily stunning caliber show how spectacular this classic silver dollar can be. But only a small proportion of each Morgan issue survives today in strictly graded “near gem” MS-64 quality.
To qualify for this high level of grading, a coin must have truly outstanding luster on both obverse and reverse sides. And the coin’s surface must be near-flawless. “Near gem” coins are real dazzlers.
We’ve found a stunning group of “near gem” MS-64 1881-O New Orleans Morgans — but we only have a limited number. Each 1881-O New Orleans Morgan silver dollar comes in a protective transparent “slab” with grading certification by NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Corporation). These certifications are readily accepted throughout the country as assurance of a coin’s high grade.
