The 1974 proof set had a mintage of just 2.6 million, the lowest of a generation (1961 through 1985). The 1975 proof set’s output was not much higher. And it’s the only U.S. proof set that contains three different dates. The cent, nickel and dime are dated 1975 and the quarter, half dollar and dollar are “preview” Bicentennial proofs, all dated 1776-1976. Each set contains six exquisite double-struck proofs with dazzling mirror backgrounds.
