Since 1992, the U.S. Mint has issued special silver proof sets reviving the tradition of 90% silver dimes, quarters and half dollars. This 1998 silver proof set was the last to include the usual five coins before the expansion of the series to include individual statehood quarters in 1999. Its mintage of 638,134 was less than one-third the regular set's production that year.
