As Jesus witnessed rich and poor contributing to religious coffers, he noted the paradox in the value of a widow's lowly bronze lepton (meaning "small" in Greek). Christ said, "This poor widow has cast in more than all the rest . . . all she had." Our Very Fine specimens of these Judean coins were minted well before Christ's lifetime but were still in circulation during the first century A.D. Each displays an anchor and wheel design.
