Interesting Facts About the Barber/Liberty Head Quarter:
-- Charles E. Barber's "Liberty Head" engraving is regarded as one of the most elegant classical U.S. coin designs. It was the last design in U.S. minting to be used on more than one denomination.
-- In a poll of collectors and numismatists, this design was voted one of the most admired in U.S. minting history. (Barber spent five years perfecting the design, going through several pattern designs before he was satisfied.)
-- Shown on the reverse is the famous Presidential Seal with Eagle and Union Shield. This design was a favorite of President Kennedy and later adapted in different form for the Kennedy half dollar.
-- Most annual Liberty Head quarter mintages amounted to just a tiny fraction of the U.S. population of the time. There were never enough to go around in commerce, so most did yeoman's duty.
