The world’s largest Tulip festival happens each spring in Ottawa, Canada. On display are blooms from the 100,000 prize bulbs Holland presented to Canada in the 1940s. That incredible gift honored the special relationship forged between the two countries during World War II. As Holland was overrun by the Nazi advance, Canada welcomed and sheltered the Crown Princess and her daughters. Canadian soldiers were also instrumental in liberating Holland later in the war. The Royal Canadian Mint honors that friendship with this beautiful oversize colorized quarter. Shown is a vibrant tulip harboring a ladybug. The obverse features a recent image of Queen Elizabeth II. Struck in the uniquely-Canadian “specimen” finish, this full-color, oversize quarter is housed in a handsome and informative presentation folder. Nickel-plated steel,
