This large 35mm crown-size coin, the fifth in the Birds of Canada series, presents a full-color rendering of a male American Goldfinch wearing his bright yellow summer plumage. The handsome Goldfinch is shown in mid-flight in front of a burst of purple lilac blooms. Known as the “Wild Canary,” these delightful birds are found at backyard feeders year around. The Brilliant Uncirculated nickel-plated steel coin features the Royal Canadian Mint’s proprietary colorization technology, in which color is actually sealed onto the coin. A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse. Includes a deluxe presentation case and numbered certificate. Mintage is limited to a low 14,000.
A note about SPECIMEN FINISH - This coin features the uniquely-Canadian "specimen" finish, a three-fold combination of different finishes. The design (raised area or relief) includes both frosted and mirrored surfaces, while the fields (background) are subtly striated, resulting in a contrasting, matte appearance. 35mm, Nickel-plated steel
