-- The first U.S. commemorative coin wasn't authorized until 1892, exactly 100 years after the opening of the U.S. Mint.
-- Virtually every half dollar commemorative features a unique obverse and reverse design, including some of the most admired in U.S. minting history. Some of America's finest artists and sculptors designed these coins.
-- Most of these half dollar commemoratives were struck in very limited mintages and for one year only.
