In 66 A.D. a Jewish rebellion succeeded in driving the Romans from Jerusalem. A revolutionary government authorized this bronze coin featuring an amphora (two-handled wine jar) and vine branches, everyday images of Judea without the offensive meaning of Roman coins carrying emperor and deity portraits. By 70 A.D. the Romans had again captured Jerusalem and destroyed the temple. The famous last stand of the revolt was at Masada, where some of these historic coins have been unearthed. Very Good quality.
