In commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's
accession to the throne of England, the British Royal Mint has issued this impressive copper-nickel 5 pound crown. One of the most legendary rulers of England, the controversial Henry VIII reigned for more than 40 years. He is best remembered as the English monarch who had six wives and broke with Rome, greatly transforming England in the process. On the reverse a majestic portrait of the imposing monarch (modeled on the famous Holbein painting) is shown inside a petal-shaped "window" evocative of his era. A rope border around the edge symbolizes Henry's legacy as one of the founders of the Royal Navy. Queen Elizabeth II is portrayed on the obverse. This Brilliant Uncirculated coin is housed in an informative presentation folder. 28.4mm, Copper-Nickel, 12g, Cardboard mount
