U.S. Morgan Silver Dollar, 1878-1904 Very Fine:
The Morgan silver dollar is the most collected of all classic U.S. dollars. These historic treasures offer the value of silver with the added advantage of collectability.

Decimated in Silver Melts -- Each big Morgan has an exceptionally high silver content of .7736 troy ounces. It's estimated that 40% of Morgans were melted during the World Wars. In the 1960s and again in the 1980s more were melted when silver prices skyrocketed. How many additional numismatic treasures were recently lost as silver prices more than doubled? When these irreplaceable keepsakes of history are melted, surviving coins become more valuable.

Harder and Harder to Locate --Now well over a century-and-a-quarter old, the Morgan silver dollar's vintage status is enhanced with each passing year. It's been estimated that only about 17% of original Morgan mintages may survive, but that number may be smaller today due to recent market conditions. And far fewer remain in the lightly circulated Very Fine grade we offer. Our choice of date.

Diameter 38.1mm, Weight 26.73 grams, Composition .900 silver
