This superlative 1977-1979 silver dollar proved to be North America’s last issued for use in commerce. A hard-asset support for the peso, this 100 peso was discontinued and recalled after the price of silver soared in 1979. Shown is Jose Morelos y Pavon, among the martyred pantheon of the Republic’s founding fathers. On the reverse is a stylized modern depiction of the traditional engraving of the Mexican Eagle killing a snake. Brilliant Uncirculated quality. 38.1mm
