The South Pacific island nation of Niue commemorated the 50th anniversary of Charles Schultz’s classic comic strip “Peanuts,” with this delightful copper-nickel issue. Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang were part of the longest-running cartoon strip in history. Although daily syndication ended with Schultz’s death in 2000, this most popular and familiar cartoon is still enjoyed worldwide today. Shown is the iconic image of Snoopy lounging on the roof of his dog house, with his friend Woodstock the bird at his feet. Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse.
