Issued as part of Poland’s Historical Monuments series this innovative issue honors the historic Grussau Abby of the village of Krzeszow. The buildings in the complex are some of the most famous examples of Baroque architecture in Europe. Shown on the reverse is a stylized image of the facade of the Minor Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the center portion fashion from ceramics, a material used widely in that region of Poland. The obverse shows other views from the complex. This silver proof issue has a limited mintage of just 50,000.
