U.S. 1916-1945 Mercury Silver Dime BU |
|
The popularity of this Neoclassic beauty is enhanced by its precious silver content. The beautiful dime was designed by Adolph A. Weinman, who also created the popular Walking Liberty Half Dollar. “Mercury” is actually a misnomer for this “Winged Hat Liberty” dime that emerged during World War I. The wings were intended to represent freedom of thought, a constitutionally guaranteed American liberty. The fasces on the reverse was adapted from a Roman emblem of authority; its bound rods suggest united strength. Brilliant Uncirculated quality. Our choice of date.
