U.S. 1923 George Washington $1 Horseblanket Note Very Good |
 |
The last of the big notes affectionately known as "horseblankets" was released in 1923. This $1 silver certificate bears the familiar bust of Washington; but there are several design differences, including blue seals and an ornate "cogwheel" reverse. These oversize notes were phased out later in the 1920s; this was the last $1 type. Our Very Good quality saw use in commerce when a dollar had big buying power. Oversized 7.25 x 3" dimensions make this note significanlty larger than our current paper money.
