U.S. 1951-1954 Washington Carver Half Dollar MS63 |
|
This 1951-1954 "Washington & Carver" silver half dollar was the final issue in the original 1892-1954 U.S. commemorative coin series. Shown are profiles of black educator Booker T. Washington and scientist George Washington Carver. On the
reverse is a map of the U.S.A. with the inscriptions "Freedom and Opportunity for All" and "Americanism." It's a great "African-American History" acquisition in the year of President Obama's inauguration.
