This milestone 6-coin 1776-1976 U.S. proof set is now over a third of a century old. In 1976, for the first time in our history, three different U.S. Mint coin designs honored a single event: the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Each unique reverse engraving was created by a different artist and never again appeared on American coinage. Its “Drummer Boy” quarter, “Independence Hall” half dollar and “Liberty Bell/Moon” dollar carried the first commemorative coin engravings in U.S. proof sets. Deep-struck, frosted engravings and dazzling mirror backgrounds. Custom U.S. Mint case.
