U.S. 2003-P First Flight Silver Dollar Proof |
In 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina one of the great events of technological history opened the way to the future. After much experimentation, Orville and Wilbur Wright produced the first sustained flight of an airplane. This magnificent tribute portrays the Wright Brothers in profile, based on the George T. Morgan design for a U.S. Congressional Medal honoring the pair in 1909. The reverse recalls the world-changing event of the soaring Wright Flyer above rolling hills in breathtaking majesty. 38.1mm
