Clad in the American flag, Adolph A. Weinman's patriotic Walking Liberty emerged during World War I and was due for retirement in 1942, but Congress extended the enormously popular series through World War II. Liberty strides confidently towards a new dawn carrying branches of laurel and oak, signifying civil and military traditions. On the reverse a powerful American Eagle with outswept wings is ready to defend our freedoms. We'll select three different 1941-1945 issues in nicely detailed Very Fine quality. They saw relatively light circulation on the homefront during World War II. 30.6mm
