For the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, the U.S. Mint unveiled the first Lincoln cent in 1909 to great popular acclaim. However, some newspapers complained that the "VDB" initials of designer Victor D. Brenner were too prominent. So three days after release, the Mint Director decided to stop the presses and substitute a second version without the offending initials. The original "VDB" remains a collector favorite and now's the time to buy yours. Well-preserved Fine quality. 19mm
