U.S. Morgan Silver Dollar 1878-CC Certified MS63 |
This legendary Morgan silver dollar was struck at the isolated Carson City Mint near the famous Comstock Lode in Nevada. This branch mint was the smallest U.S. minting facility of the time. And its total mintages were by far the lowest of any facility. The CC-mintmark has always been especially desirable to collectors and today prized Carson City Morgan silver dollars are getting much tougher to locate in any grade.
Only a small fraction of premium specimens exist compared to average mint-state silver dollars for a particular date. These gorgeous issues are the “cream” of Brilliant Uncirculated U.S. silver dollars. These coins were generally struck with fresh dies, so they have superior luster and crispness compared to average Brilliant Uncirculated coins. To qualify for these high levels of grading, a coin must have outstanding luster on both obverse and reverse sides. And the coin’s surfaces are increasingly unblemished.
Each comes in a protective transparent case, with consensus grading certification by the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. These certifications are readily accepted throughout the country as assurance of a coin’s high grade. And our ANA-trained grading staff double-checks every certified coin we offer to see that our uncompromising standards are met. Certified coins should never be removed from their cases, and are not returnable once removed.
