Just 756,000 were struck for commerce by the small branch mint in Nevada, near the fabled Comstock Lode (most of the silver mined there was shipped to the San Francisco Mint). It was by far the lowest individual production for 1879 Morgan silver dollars. Today expert opinion holds that as few as 2,000 may survive in the nicely detailed Very Fine quality we offer or higher grades. The prized "CC" mintmark appears below the eagle and wreath.
