While 5.7 million were struck at the Old South's branch mint, it's authoritatively estimated that as few as 165,000 of the 1881-O Morgan silver dollar may survive in mint-state quality (tremendous numbers were melted by the Treasury). That's only about 4% of the number of 1881-S San Francisco Mint Morgans that may exist in Uncirculated quality. Yet the 1881-O issue regularly sells for very little more in our Brilliant Uncirculated quality which has nice original luster and no sign of wear (some bags marks are present, as is normal).
