The principal (no-mintmark) Philadelphia Mint was nearing its peak of Morgan silver dollar production when this issue emerged in 1886. In our day, as few as 2% of this mintage is estimated to survive in connoisseur MS-64 quality, with burning luster and especially beautiful surfaces on both sides. These MS-64's are in the most affordable level for the period. Each coin comes in a transparent protective "slab" with certified grading by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation or the Professional Coin Grading Service. 38.1mm Certified coins should never be removed from their cases and cannot be returned once removed.
