The principal (no-mintmark) Philadelphia Mint was nearing its peak of Morgan silver dollar production when this issue emerged in 1886. In our day, as few as 2% of this mintage is estimated to survive in connoisseur MS-64 quality, with burning luster and especially beautiful surfaces on both sides. These MS-64's are in the most affordable level for the period. Each coin comes in a transparent protective "slab" with certified grading by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation or the Professional Coin Grading Service.
