This no-mintmark issue emerged from the principal Philadelphia Mint in the year when America greeted the new century with keen anticipation of all the progress it might bring. Some workers of the time still only earned one Morgan silver dollar for a day's labor. Just one could pay for a day's room and board even in major urban centers like New York City. Only a tiny fraction of its original mintage survives today in gleaming mint-state (a much smaller proportion than for most Morgan issues). Our Brilliant Uncirculated quality has nice original luster and no sign of wear (some bag marks are present, as is normal).
