The Denver branch mint opened in 1906, following the suspension of the Morgan dollar series after 1904. So the only D-mintmark issue in the series came when the Morgan dollar was briefly revived in 1921. Existing hubs had been destroyed, so original dies were recreated. The 1921 engravings differ slightly from earlier issues and mintmarks proved to be much smaller than before. That gives the "micro D" issue added appeal for collectors. Transparent protective case; PCGS or NGC certification. Certified coins should never be removed from their cases and cannot be returned once removed.
