Until the mid-1940s, this 1923 Philadelphia Mint issue was regarded as the most elusive Peace dollar BU. It brought the highest bids in a large 1945 auction. Not even the low-mintage 1928 issue was higher valued (today it sells for over a thousand dollars). Now, after the final Treasury releases of the 1960s, the 1923 is one of the most affordable Brilliant Uncirculated classic U.S. silver dollars.
