Only the Philadelphia and San Francisco mints struck Peace silver dollars in 1925. The 1925-S mintage of 1.6 million was only 16% of the Philadelphia output. And a far smaller proportion of the S-mintmark issue has survived. In fact, the 1925-S Peace dollar remains one of the three key scarcities of the first half of the series. AU coins possess original luster, but merely a trace of wear at highest points. Sometimes the price gap between AU and BU is as slight as the quality difference.
