U.S. Peace Silver Dollar 1935-S Very Fine |
The first San Francisco Mint Peace dollars of 1922 and 1923 averaged a hefty 18 million per year. But as the series continued, mintages fell drastically. The capstone 1935-S Peace dollar had a production of just 1.9 million for the final year of the series. A vast number were later lost in government melts. Today mint-state specimens are so scarce that they retail for around $500. We estimate that only about 60,000 may survive in VF or better quality. Clearly detailed Very Fine quality.
