"Hearing a loon call is the highlight of my summer!" Gretchen, 13 years of service
My family treasures the week we spend at a camp on a small Vermont lake each summer. One of the biggest treats during our vacation is hearing and seeing loons. Their call is the quintessential sound of northern wilderness.
These beautiful creatures were designated an endangered species in Vermont early in the 1980s and we've been working hard since to encourage loon nesting and breeding. All the work is paying off and the loon population in Vermont is on the upswing.
This wonderful hand painted wooden loon ornament is the perfect reminder to value our wild places and the creatures who live there. The 2" x4" piece includes antique touches and a folksy coiled wire hanger.
