American Philippines 1903 “Liberty” Silver 50 Centavos BU
Struck by the Philadelphia Mint, this historic 1903 first issue introduced the Beaux Arts style to U.S. minting. As America prepared the Philippines for democracy after Spanish rule, the coin displays Liberty breaking the chains of tyranny. In the background is the exotic touch of an erupting volcano. On the reverse is a unique U.S. eagle and shield. Inscriptions combine English and Spanish. Over four times as many silver pesos were struck in 1903. Brilliant Uncirculated quality
