Extra Fine 1878-CC Carson City Morgan Silver Dollar
Pay no more than what Very Fine quality sells for --
We’ve found a limited group of sharply detailed Extra Fine first-year Carson City Mint Morgan dollars at a special price -- so now we can offer them at less than our price for lower Very Fine quality. Merely 2% of Morgan silver dollars were struck at the isolated Carson City Mint, situated near the fabulous Comstock Lode. Of the first-date 1878 Morgan issues, the "CC" is the most elusive today in this very lightly circulated XF quality or higher grades. At the time of its minting, an 1878-CC Morgan dollar was literally a day’s pay for a cowboy on the range or a railroad worker out West. Nice circulated 1878-CC Morgans are a lot scarcer than mint-state specimens, and the cost is far less. The coveted "CC" mintmark appears below the eagle and wreath.
