padExtra Fine U.S. 1898-S Morgan Silver Dollar

Get sharply detailed XF quality for 17% of what BU’s sell for...

In 1898 the San Francisco Mint issued the fewest Morgan silver dollars of any facility. A silver dollar encyclopedia estimates that as few as 232,000 of this later San Francisco Mint issue may survive today in Very Fine grading or higher. That makes it easily the scarcest issue for the date. It’s estimated that at least 648,000 of the 1898 Philadelphia issue survive in VF or higher grades and 720,000 of the 1898-O New Orleans issue. And the 1881-S Morgan may be fully 17 times as plentiful in VF quality or better. The scarcity of the 1898 S-mint issue means our regular price for BU quality is $525. But you pay about one-sixth of that price for our beautiful Extra Fine quality.
