Coin Grading Information
Explanations of Coin Grades
(based on official standards of the American Numismatic Association)
Good (G): Heavily worn. Major designs visible, but with faintness in areas.
Very Good (VG): Well worn. Bold major designs, absence of fine detailing.
Fine (F): Moderate even wear, bold entire design with some weaknesses.
Very Fine (VF): Generally light wear, moderate wear at high points.
Extra Fine (XF): All design details sharp, light wear at highest points.
About Uncirculated (AU): Original mint luster with traces of wear at highest points.
Brilliant Uncirculated (BU): Original mint luster with no trace of wear; moderate bag marks (scratches). (Our selection ranges from MS-60 to MS-62.)
Choice Brilliant Uncirculated MS-63: Exceptional mint luster; no wear; light bag marks.
Gem Brilliant Uncirculated MS-65: Blazing original luster and virtually no surface flaws.
Proof: Double-struck on mirror-finish coin blank, generally with frosted designs.
