Begun in 1999, the U.S. Mint’s statehood quarter series is the largest single-theme commemorative series in American history. Issued in the sequence states were admitted to the Union, each quarter presents a unique engraving to honor the particular state. Five new statehood tributes are issued per year: in 2006, Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota and South Dakota. New engravings include wild horses of Nevada, a covered wagon pioneer landmark of Nebraska, the Rockies of Colorado, bison of North Dakota and Mt. Rushmore of South Dakota. These states were admitted from 1864 to 1889. George Washington obverse. Brilliant Uncirculated.
