U.S. 2000 Proof and Mint Sets
|Item Number: 46470|
|U.S. 2000 Proof and Mint Set Pair. Introduced in 2000, the compact Sacagawea dollar promised to revive the $1 coin in commerce. Its bright golden color made it easily distinguishable from the quarter, as the short-lived Susan B. Anthony dollar had not been. But it never did catch on with the public.
The first Sacagawea proof appeared in the 10-coin 2000 proof set. Also included are the cent, nickel, dime and half dollar proofs, as well as the Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire and Virginia quarter proofs.
The big 20-coin 2000 U.S. mint set features two Sacagawea dollars as well as the year's five Statehood quarters, cents, nickels, dimes and half dollars.
