U.S. Morgan Silver Dollars 1878-S & 1921-S Very Fine
U.S. First 1878-S and Last 1921-S San Francisco Mint Morgan Dollar Pair.
The most beautifully struck of America’s first-year 1878 Morgan silver dollars were issued by the then-new San Francisco Mint. Its minting equipment was among the world’s finest and Morgan silver dollars were a specialty (the silver was mined from fabulous Wild West lodes of the time).
The final 1921-S San Francisco Morgan dollar differs slightly from earlier issues, with its modified relief and “microscopic S” mintmark. George T. Morgan revived his original “flat eagle breast” reverse engraving for this issue (it was discontinued after 1878). Lightly circulated Very Fine quality.
