Produced with a beautiful pearl-effect red finish, this new coin
honors the 175th anniversary of the Penny Red postage stamp.
The British stamp, first issued in 1841, implemented a change
in color from black to red to combat fraud. The famous longestrunning
stamp was the world’s most used in its period and is
probably the most collected issue. The Government of Ascension
Island, in celebration has released this special red crown as part
of its “Penny Black Stamp” series. Just 5,000 of these silver
proof coins will be minted. Official mint packaging included.
