The big dollar, added to the cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar proofs, made the 1973 set the fi rst 6-coin proof set.
The 6-coin 1980 U.S. proof set includes fi nest-quality cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar and a SBA small dollar proofs. The copper-nickel Susan B. Anthony dollar, introduced in 1979 didnít catch on in commerce. The ground-breaking small dollar coins closely resembled the quarter in color and size and were only issued for a total of four years.
The first Sacagawea dollar appeared in the 2000 proof set. The compact dollar promised to revive the dollar coin in commerce. The coinís bright golden color made it easily distinguishable from the quarter, as the short-lived Susan B. Anthony dollar had not been. But the dollar bill was not retired and the public never embraced it. Also included in the 10-coin set are the cent, nickel, dime and half dollar proofs as well as the Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire and Virginia quarter proofs.
Each of these sets includes double-struck, mirror-finish specimens of all U.S. coin denominations issued for that date. All of the sets come in original protective U.S. Mint packaging and remain in perfect condition.
