U.S. 1878-CC Carson City Morgan Silver Dollar Certified “Choice Brilliant” MS-62:
This historic first-date Morgan was produced during the series first year of issue at the isolated Carson City, Nevada branch mint. Relatively few Morgans were struck at this smallest U.S. branch mint of the day. The “CC” mintmark always conveys genuine scarcity, especially in the nicer Brilliant Uncirculated grades. Today a silver dollar encyclopedia estimates as few as 65,000 MS-62 or better specimens may exist. In the Morgan dollar series, that’s real scarcity, given the enormous popularity of hard-to-find “CC” issues.
U.S. 1904-O New Orleans “Once Rare” Morgan Silver Dollar Certified MS-63:
In 1962 this was one of the three costliest rarities in the series, listing for $350 in BU quality. Only a few thousand were known to exist in any condition. Then the last U.S. Treasury releases stunned the collecting world: a good number of bags emerged containing pristine 1904-O Morgans. Only a small portion remain today in this certified “Choice Brilliant” MS-63 quality which features exceptional mint luster and clean surfaces.
