These 1904 Morgan silver dollars were issued in the year the series was suspended. Because U.S. silver dollars were not revived again until 1921, the 1904 issues weren’t replaced in commerce and hence most that entered circulation tended to get heavier use. Furthermore, it just happened that NO 1904-S Morgans were saved in bags for the last Treasury sales of the 1960’s!
